GOT THAT
Support
Got That sends short voice messages from a parent's phone to paired family phones. If something is not working, start here — then email us and we will help.

What you need
- A parent phone and at least one paired family phone, each with an internet connection over Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- Android 8.0 or later. Got That does not need a PC, a home network device, or both phones on the same network.
- Microphone access on the sending phone, and notifications allowed on the receiving phone.
Setting up
- On the parent phone, sign in and create your family.
- Create a single-use invitation for the phone you want to add.
- On that phone, choose the family role, name the phone, and scan the QR code.
- Check that both phones show the same verification phrase, then approve the device on the parent phone.
Pairing problems
- Invitations are single-use and expire. Create a fresh one if a scan fails.
- If the verification phrases differ, do not approve — cancel and start a new invitation.
- Allow camera access on the phone doing the scanning, or use manual code entry instead.
A message did not arrive, or did not play out loud
- Confirm both phones are online and the receiving phone is still paired.
- Open Got That on the receiving phone and check its listening and notification status.
- Allow notifications for Got That in Android settings, and check Do Not Disturb, silent mode and volume.
- Check battery optimisation is not restricting Got That in the background.
- Open the inbox and replay the message when automatic playback is unavailable.
Automatic playback depends on connectivity, permissions, listening settings and the phone's current audio state. Got That is for everyday coordination and should not be relied on for emergencies.
Delivery status and replies are different things
Delivery status tells you the message reached a phone. "Got it" means a person actually tapped the button. Got That shows them separately on purpose — delivery alone is not proof anyone listened.
Accounts, devices and privacy
- Revoke a phone any time from the family screen; delivery to it stops immediately.
- Delete your account from the account screen, or see account deletion.
- See our Privacy Policy for what we collect and how long we keep it.
When you email us
Please include your phone model, your Android version, and roughly when the problem happened. Do not send voice recordings, pairing codes, passwords or screenshots containing private family information.
